Neighbourhood Farming is an excellent way to contribute to, among others, global goal 11.3 for inclusive and sustainable urbanization. By 2030 the capacity for participation-based, integrated and sustainable planning and management of settlements in all countries has to be improved.
Boodla works on behalf of municipalities and housing companies, among other things, to create urban farms together with residents in densely populated areas. The focus is both on growing food together and creating a safe and pleasant meeting place.
Neighbours who farm together receive support from Boodla throughout the season and we often hire and train local people to develop and care for the gardens.
Cities must become more sustainable and more food needs to be produced hyper-locally. Therefore, we focus on teaching about the farming of edible plants with regenerative methods and supplement with other plants for biodiversity and beauty.
Our gardens become informal meeting places for everyone to enjoy, whether they actively want to participate in the gardening or just want to take a coffee break among flowers and vegetables.
